In this painting I delve into the ruins of the historic Old Crow Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. It stands as a haunting, moss-draped monument with nature slowly reclaiming the birthplace of modern bourbon chemistry. The ruins are located on the Glenns Creek Distillery site, a fabulous craft distillery steeped in bourbon history and knowledge. They did offer tours of the ruins a couple times a year which is where I had the opportunity to snap the photos I used as reference for this painting. I tried to capture the feeling of the drizzly day we were there. The lighting added to the melancholy setting. I have added five crows, a group of crows is called a murder, thus the title.
