Nestled in a rolling meadow surrounded by the blue mountains an old bourbon barrel has new life as nature repurposes it into a wildflower planter and butterfly sanctuary. I've included my wife’s favorite butterflies, the Monarch and Black Swallowtail. The barrel sports the name of our favorite destination when we come down, Frankfort. The flowers soaking in the sun are a wide variety including Blackeyed Susans, White Daisies and a nod to Kentucky with the state flower the Golden Rod peaking up from behind the makeshift flower garden. This was a fun painting to pay tribute to beautiful Kentucky and its rich distilling history.
