The Iconic Castle

Standing majestically the castle of Castle and Key Distillery is one of Kentucky’s most recognizable bourbon landmarks and has since it was constructed by the legendary Col EH Taylor in 1887. Its limestone walls, crenellated towers, and signature blue doors are an enduring symbol of whiskey and spirits craftsmanship. It is surrounded by grounds that are truly second to none. This painting celebrates the character and history of this remarkable location. I tried to capture the shadows and vibrancy of a sunny summer day at the grand old distillery and its new found revitalization.  This is where generations of bourbon distilling tradition continue to meet the beauty of the Kentucky landscape.

I am a self taught artist from northwest Ohio. I started painting at an early age then diverged into wood carving. Blood thinners directed me back to acrylic painting and I have focused on it for many years. I have a small upstairs studio closely supervised by our two cats on the little 3 acre farm my wife and I own. After many trips to Kentucky’s bourbon spots I have a love of bourbon history and culture. I try to capture it in each painting.

All prints are Giclee’ museum quality prints with special fade resistant ink on acid free materials. They have the highest resolution for the most accurate reproduction of the original painting.
